We're Looking for Our Next Executive Director!

The Southeast CASA Program is seeking a qualified candidate for its Executive Director position. Our current ED is retiring in mid-2023, and we hope to hire just the right person to take over as the ED, with enough time for our current ED to train the new ED in all aspects of administering the program.

Candidates must have experience in the administration of an organization or business, and must demonstrate strong skills in fiscal management, grant writing, confidentiality, communications, and public relations, and must be able to pass background checks. Previous experience working with volunteers and an understanding of child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, and other social services skills are given priority.

Compensation commensurate with experience. For consideration, please download the application form and submit it by December 23, 2022 to: Southeast CASA, P.O. Box 7017, Yankton, SD   57078-7017.

The Story of a CASA Child

One story exemplifies the impact that a CASA volunteer had on the decision made for a child. It is about a boy we'll call Gabe.

Gabe had three older half-siblings who had been removed from the home as children and raised by relatives, not their mother. Then along came Gabe, who struggled every day to get what he needed. You see, Gabe’s mother has a severe alcohol and drug addiction problem and often relapsed after months of sobriety. Gabe had been in foster care a couple of times when he was younger, but he was returned to his mother’s home after several months. But things never seemed to stay at a good level for very long.
