Red Shoe Gala

It was our first fundraising event in Clay County, and it was a good one! Many attendees wore red shoes (high heels, sandals, boots, athletic shoes…any style) and joined Southeast CASA at the Eagles Club in downtown Vermillion on Saturday, Sept. 23rd. The fun began at 6:30 p.m. with raffles, a $500 jackpot, and of course a few red shoe contests! The highlight of the evening was the Dueling Duo pianos show.  We put the FUN in Fundraising! All proceeds will be used in Clay County to provide abused and neglected children with a CASA advocate.

As Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” said as she clicked her ruby slippers, “There’s no place like home.” Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing home. Unfortunately there are children in our own community who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect by their parents. Who will speak for these kids in court when decisions are being made about their future? A CASA volunteer advocate!

Proceeds from the Red Shoe Gala for CASA fundraiser provided support for the CASA advocacy services in Clay County that these kids so desperately need.

Sanford Vermillion was the sponsor of the Reverse Raffle jackpot. David Ermer from Sioux Falls won the $500 jackpot, and then generously donated it to Southeast CASA!

Thank you to The Bean Coffee Shop, Willson Florist, and Davis Pharmacy in Vermillion for selling event tickets.
